I LOVE this book! I'm back into flute playing after being away from my flute for decades and this book has EVERYTHING! From tone to warm-ups to scales.......it's like the flute bible! It will keep me occupied for HOURS! I love all the books bound in one spiral bound book. There are lots of handy hints on how to best use the book.

My teacher instructed me to buy this book and loves it because it has all of the books in 1. She has them all separate. I'm amazed at how comprehensive the exercises are. I've been playing flute for many years and yet find a lot of these exercises ones that I'll continue playing for many years. I researched a lot before buying this book and nearly all serious flute players and teachers insist on owning this book.

This is the most comprehensive and varied set of techniques instruction and exercises ever put together into a single volume. And its spiral binding makes it easy to work with. This book is a master class in print, fine tuning every aspect of flute playing.I cannot imagine ever getting through every page. I will select what attracts me to work on during each focus and phase of my development. The book (and the student's time and effort investment) is actually twelve times what it appears, because a guideline for using the book is to play each exercise in all twelve keys. Ideally, I would think that that means mentally transposing on the fly (if you can).I would like it even better if it included chord names above each of the arpeggios. As a former folk guitarist, I can hear named chord progressions in my head, but it is difficult for me to translate that to feeling arpeggio progressions in my head without the notes sustaining as they would on a guitar. I remember penciling in the chord names for Bach's Prelude No. 1 BWV 846, after which the whole piece flowed better for me because I was hearing the chords as I played the arpeggios.That is not a critique of this book specifically, but of all other flute exercise books that I have seen. Or, more accurately, a critique of myself for not having previously developed my ear in this particular aspect playing monophonic instruments.This Trevor Wye book definitely gets five stars!

This is such an amazing book. It really goes into detail for every single thing that a flute player needs to make the most beautiful sound. It goes into specifics for beginner, intermediates and advanced players. Personally, I always find myself going back to begginer steps and exercises just to make my foundations perfect. This is a preactice book that every flute player must have!

Every single flutist should have this book. You will instantly see that every aspect about your playing is better. If you are a flutist of any level and you do not have this book, you should get it right away.

I was a serious flutist through high school, college, army band, and numerous gigs after that. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I haven't played for many years. I've been asked to play for a special event in June, and was disheartened at my miserable tone quality, technique, you name it. I purchased this book and am following the regime/instructions in Book 1, and my tone is coming back. I'm practicing daily and praying that I'll be proficient enough to perform in June. I'm not sure where I would be if I hadn't found this practice guide. it's better than anything I used in the past.

The book is good. However, the CD contents does not match with the page of the book. Have trouble to locate where the each section of CD is referred to just by title.

My fingers are becoming muscular!His sarcasm is great. The exercises are challenging. A little unwieldy on my music stand but I can overlook that. Spiral bound.

This reference book is the "bible" for Vanagon owners/wrench turners. It is clearly designed for the highly trained mechanic, but provides great detail so that the shade tree mechanic troubleshoot and make some repairs as well. The cost is about the same as an hour of labor at a Vanagon Shop.

Bought this some time ago for our 1991 fully restored VW Vanagon Camper. Sold the VW. The book went with it. The book is superb. Highly recommended by someone who restored the VW bottom to top, front to back. We drove it on camping trips about 15,000 miles. Again, the book is great for preventive maintenance and trouble shooting on the road.

Has everything you ever really need to know and more about your Vanagon. Yes it is very technical, but for most of the jobs you would need this book for, if you are doing it yourself to begin with, you can understand it. The hardcover is great also. No need to worry about it getting destroyed easily like the softcover ones. I'd suggest buying it before it gets even more expensive. Although it is very expensive for a book, this thing is thick like a textbook, and compared to most mathematical and science related textbooks for schools, it is a bargain.

Let's get something straight right off the bat about this manual, it's the Factory Repair Manual, originally intended for mechanics at the dealership. It assumes you are experienced and already know which end of a screwdriver works. Its not going to teach you 'how' to work on your Vanagon, it's the 'bible' on the repair procedures on for your Vanagon. I suspect the negative reviews for this manual are mostly from 'newbies' and novices. What this manual is most useful for is the factory approved method for servicing your Vanagon, not "Auto Mechanics 101'. So if you're looking for a manual to teach you how to work on your Vanagon, THIS IS NOT IT! On the other hand, if you looking for a manual that explains the factory approved method of working on your Vanagon, with all the necessary details and specifications, "BINGO". Naturally, its a translation of a German manual so you have to take that into account too, a translation is only as good as the translator, trust me, I work for a German company in their US plant and this is a very common problem. So be warned about what you're getting if you order this manual.

I almost didn't buy this book based on the other, negative reviews. I am happy that I went against their advice.The lack of a real index proved to be a major pain in the rear. The book is stictly a reference manual, and as a reference it is quite good. The pictures, drawings and diagrams are worth the price alone. There is little troubleshooting advice. I just completed some major overhaul work on my engine, and I could not have done it without the book.The bottom line is that the book is a reference, not a how-to manual.To troubleshoot the fuel injection/electronic ignition I bought another Bently book: Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management by Charles Probst.. Maybe its because I knew almost nothing about EFI, but I thought that the Bosch book was the best auto book I've ever purchased. I give it 5 stars and consider it an essential companion to my Bently Vanagon book.

Bentley manuals are a must-have for anyone that works on their own VW or Audi. Don't let the initial investment scare you off. This book will pay for itself the first time you use it. Torque specs, wiring diagrams, and installation/removal step-by-steps.They're not perfect, but they're better than Haynes or any other book out there.

This book pretty much has everything known about a vanagon. If you have never worked on a vehicle before, it might get overwhelming, but for the most part it is easy to read and follow. I do wish it gave you access to the pages online once you buy it, so if you needed to print off a wiring diagram you didn't have to scan the gigantic book.

I think I have just scratched the surface with this manual.I was able to understand my engines hydraulic lifters and why they are noisy.Seems that worn lifters lose thier oil if sitting to long. (Bleed out)I feel that I may be able to replace the lifters by myself using the manual.I was lost before and now I'm informed.A must have for vanagon owners that can twist a few wrenches.I would recommend this to other Vanagon owners.
